ArtStart is a wonderful opportunity for preschool-aged children to engage in visual learning and creative expression through weekly storytime and art activities.

What You’ll Learn
How to explore art through storytelling and hands-on creativity
Ways to develop visual literacy and an appreciation for art
Early skills that support academic success, confidence, and imagination
Social and emotional skills like communication, cooperation, and respect
Create in a small, supportive class (limited to 10 children)
How art can bring families together—parents and caregivers are encouraged to join and share in the fun!

Pre-school-aged children up to age 5.

● Program Overview

Skeleton’s persistent hiccups prevent him from polishing his bones (his arm jerks loose), carving a pumpkin, raking leaves, etc. What can he do to stop them? Make spooky scary skeletons after.

One day, Color Monster wakes up feeling very confused. His emotions are all over the place; he feels angry, happy, calm, sad, and scared all at once! To help him, a little girl shows him what each feeling means through color. Make a colorful color monster painting.

Reader beware! This is the scariest book ever! Or so claims its melodramatic ghost narrator. Go ahead and turn the page, but don’t expect him to come with you. Make a cat silhouette after.

It’s Halloween! Which means it’s time to dangle cobwebs and bats from the windows, put on costumes, and – most important of all – visit the pumpkin patch and pick out that perfect pumpkin! Make a Jack-o-Lantern tote.
